Trying to analyze any of it does feel like trying to cram together two puzzle pieces that aren't supposed to fit together sometimes jsdhfkjshdf but when it fits, it fits great. I like the idea of Ohtori falling apart and Anthy getting the hell out of Dodge with Utena in tow this time, as like a final break in the cycle for good. I feel like connecting it to the series helps strengthen the understanding of it because yeah, taken as a standalone the movie is like, almost incomprehensible metaphorically lmao. Like the basics are there but knowledge of the series adds to it.
The designs and animation are sooo good, I love Utena's short hair. I was also obsessed with Juri at the time lmao when I finally watched the series proper I was like yeppp little me was so valid.
