RECENT WATCHING OF THE LAST WEEK

lizardjayIf I make this a regular feature I'll have to number the weeks somehow. Journal organization... so hard... I've seen the REPORT format from Certain Other DW People but tbh I'm unsure if I have enough for some of the other sections to be interesting at all. At the same time, I'd like to post more. Idk!! I'll figure something out eventually.
This has been a heavy TV week for me!! I have to catch up with WHA this next week so idk how much else I'll get to. I'm also TRYING to finish up Vigilantes after I fell off the wagon T_T
OPLA was a LOT of fun and we'll be moving into season 2 shortly! I don't plan on ever getting into anime One Piece as it's infinite and I think Naruto will be my one and only infinite-length show (at only like 1/3 the length?), but I really like it. My knowledge level is now of OPLA and also inexplicably Trafalgar Law bc I see a lot about him on tumblr.
Now: Gundam ZZ. I didn't really do episode reacts for Zeta, which I regret, so I'll try to do them this time around. M and I had forgotten how bonkers Gundam is and just two episodes fried our brains. I love Gundam... I need to find a good icon.

OPLA was a LOT of fun and we'll be moving into season 2 shortly! I don't plan on ever getting into anime One Piece as it's infinite and I think Naruto will be my one and only infinite-length show (at only like 1/3 the length?), but I really like it. Now: Gundam ZZ. I didn't really do episode reacts for Zeta, which I regret, so I'll try to do them this time around. M and I had forgotten how bonkers Gundam is and just two episodes fried our brains. I love Gundam... I need to find a good icon.
EPISODE 1: PRELUDE ZZ
This is a nothing episode. The first half was a recap and then the second half, EXTREMELY CONFUSINGLY, was like a preview for episode 2. It had scenes from episode 2 but with voiceover as if it was a recap. I started to wonder if there was something that I had missed, or if the show was so incoherent that we had decided to skip things like 'introducing the characters in real scenes' or 'dialogue' or 'actually spending time on scenes involving stealing a mobile suit and kicking Captain Bright'.
EPISODE 2: THE BOY FROM SHANGRI-LA
Luckily this was a normal episode after all!
Judau, our protag, is a junk salvager, along with his friend Iino, who I am remembering primarily by his stunningly wide and beautiful eyes. I'm not finding a representative image but you have to trust me. They also have some pals and/or rivals and/or exploiting bullies that I didn't catch the names of.
These guys salvage an escape pod but tragically, Yazan is inside it. It is so funny to me that of all people from Zeta, Yazan lives. Yazan, the guy who grabbed a subordinate by the balls to bully him... who schemed iirc to kill a couple of his commanding officers and their entire ship... who I think has a turtle tattoo on his chest... who somehow never died!! And he's still here! Through a combo of threatening with a gun, and charisma I guess, he convinces all the teens to help him get to the spaceport. All well and good, but then they 1) throw a truck driver off the moving truck and onto the highway; 2) take Fa hostage while she's trying to get Kamille to the hospital; 3) storm the bay that the Argama's in and start assaulting soldiers with oranges; and 4) stand by as Yazan tries to kill someone. It's only when YAZAN ACTUALLY SERIOUSLY INJURES OR KILLS A GUY that they're like "ah shit maybe this was a horrible idea."
Speaking of Kamille, Judau has a moment where he sees Kamille (pretty much non-responsive) in the back of Fa's truck, holds hands with him, and has Newtype visions of space and an ominous light. I also have to assume he got a partial download of Zeta piloting knowledge, either on purpose or because Kamille is 50% composed of being Zeta's pilot and it just naturally transferred.
They then had a funny moment where Fa goes "so you wanted to protect Kamille the invalid, but it's okay to take me as a hostage?" and the teens go "yeah, he was a noble soldier and all but you're just an irrelevant and inferior girl so who cares." They don't say that exactly but what else could they have POSSIBLY meant by "you're a girl" in this context.
Anyway Judau steals the half-functional Zeta Gundam to chase Yazan because he's finally realized he's a bad guy (and because he wanted to steal it for money anyway), but he's bad at piloting it so he's not very successful. He finally wins after they enter the colony again, but he doesn't even kill Yazan -_- and then he has to run away after Bright has caught up to him in a rented car. Luckily his pals have set explosions as a diversion (???? after escaping the spaceport I guess??? you just have explosives???) and they get away in their truck. Unsure if Yazan got caught by Bright or not.
Next episode there's a guy named Marshmallow. (Okay, Mashymre Cello. It's no Quattro Bajeena as a name, but it's a lot.)
