Like many people I know, I've been consumed by Tears of the Kingdom. It's great fun! I'm apparently.... 30 hours in.... and there's multiple major places I haven't even gotten to, and most of the story.
GAMEPLAY
  • I am loving the caves and the sky!! ... Once I learned about the existence of horriblins, that is -_- It's really fun to have those additional layers in the landscape. Not sure yet what I think about the deep underground... There didn't seem to be much down there? I explored a bit beyond the Robbie section but, besides scary enemies, I didn't see much benefit. Maybe there's more out there.
  • In the absence of infinite bombs (you are missed u_u) I have become even more of an archer than I already was. All enemies can be defeated with the power of Headshots from a safe distance.
stuff about the Hands
How are you even supposed to beat Phantom Ganon without relying on shooting? I tried for a bit but had very little success. Luckily, Ganon doesn't understand line of sight. He got trapped in a corner so it was all over for him.

Below was supposed to embed the video but perhaps it doesn't work on DW? Ah well.
  • Koroks!!! I've already accidentally tortured a few. Tossed one down an entire cliff. It wasn't on purpose though; I fell off the car. It ended up pretty close to its destination, so.... victory?
  • There are some differences in mechanics from BOTW. Stamina seems much less important, probably because of the alternative methods of climbing. This is very convenient for exploring and made it so I didn't have to drop all my initial upgrades into stamina. Then there's the new abilities, of course. My only complaint is that I wish you could get the same speeds with Ultrahand as you could with Magnesis. You could really fling things around with Magnesis. This makes it a little difficult to smash crates :D
  • I haven't made any contraptions that are TOO out there. As with all games, I've been hoarding the capsule devices and haven't used a single one. What if I end up needing 17 fans in the final battle??? It could happen!!! -_-

STORY
  • I like this as a sequel. You get to see a lot of the same places and people, but it also feels lived-in and changed from the last game. The timing of everything is... ambiguous, of course. (How long was it between game 1 and the start of game 2? How long was Link recovering? These questions will not be answered, and neither should they be, in my opinion.)
  • In terms of main story I've done the main quest in Rito Village and investigated one geoglyph, but otherwise I'm living my best life and exploring aimlessly. I started by going north a little, then on a long journey south and then eastish, hitting Hateno and Kakariko on accident. Somewhere in here I went back to the main story briefly because I was informed that the paraglider was there. Dropped by Lurelin long enough to decide I'd take care of that later. Then decided to take care of Rito Village because it's all everyone in the stables could talk about. Then explored Hebra a bit... then the Forgotten Temple canyon... and just now went to the Great Plateau.
  • The Yiga Clan is living in the old man's house! On the one hand this is offensive; in BOTW I would regularly go back and visit the house just bc... idk! He looked out for us when we were starting the game! I would leave little offerings of baked apples. So as I was approaching the house, I thought maybe Link had moved here since Zelda SUPPLANTED US IN OUR OWN HOUSE, and Link... may or may not still live with her? So the Yiga were a bit of a shock when I opened the door. On the other hand, this is incredibly funny and I love this for them. They then revealed in their diary that the Yiga Clan is investigating in the chasms and has made a vehicle called the HOVERDOOM MK.3. I would die for them.

Not reading because I'm avoiding spoilers, but yay for having fun!! :D :D I'll probably have to wait until I have a week off like for Christmas or something to get it... I was completely obsessed with BotW and found it hard to be reasonable and stop for any reason XD

ENJOY!!!! :D :D
