Utena Ep 31-33

EPISODE 31
Nanami TWICE says that her mother and father and her are blood type B. That the whole family is. WHY ARE YOU NOT MENTIONING TOUGA (who she later says is type A).
Because I always forget, here's what the blood types are supposed to mean:
A: earnest, neat (pros); stubborn, anxious (cons)
B: passionate, creative (pros); selfish, uncooperative (cons)
B obviously fits Nanami. A... doesn't really fit Touga, from what we've seen. We have a couple possibilities here.
1. Maybe his blood type isn't A; I mean, Touga proves quite willing to lie to Nanami during this episode, so I don't really know if we can unquestioningly accept ANY piece of information we get.
2. Touga has hidden depths of personality previously unseen. Very possible; Touga does so many things that don't make sense on the surface. He HAS to have some past with Akio at the very least.
3. Utena the show doesn't care about blood types.
According to a random chart I found, which may be simplifying the genetics, you can only get a B child with one allele being B and the other B or O. Same with A, one has to be A and the other A or O. Theoretically one parent could be AB and the other OO; or one parent AO and the other BO. This isn't actually important but I wanted to verify that Nanami and Touga could in fact be children of the same parents.
Anyway. Idk why Touga decided to step up his sister seduction this episode. I guess he could have decided (or been instructed) to prep her for a mental breakdown so she'd duel Utena. Otherwise he's seducing for real.
ANTHY AND HER STRATEGIC BANANA PEELS. She is so perfect. I guess she had TWO bananas because after Nanami slips she's still eating one.
Akio's strategies are so lazy. He's done the "let me wrap your ankle" scheme TWICE. Hilariously, Anthy DISAPPEARS between two shots during this scene. She's out of here.
Nanami is the first external person to go "what the fuck is going on with the chairman and Utena. I DONT LIKE IT." And then Anthy starts handfeeding Akio (not to mention. the end of the episode, of course) and Nanami, VERY UNDERSTANDABLY, Does Not Like this either.
I don't feel like analyzing the statues Utena and Nanami walk past but I'm sure people have.
Nanami went first to Miki for a place to stay, then to Juri. Miki really is everyone's best friend somehow.
Love that Touga's first response to Nanami saying they're not brother and sister is "how did you find out?" A born liar. Incredible. WHAT IS YOUR DEAL, TOUGA??
Utena genuinely does not know how to give advice to anyone :D
.... why did Anthy have to be wearing (or. previously wearing) the rose bride dress. COME ON, AKIO. That's not necessary.

Having to show up to breakfast after That, where everyone is acting perfectly normal... It's hell. I'm sorry Nanami.
What gets in Nanami's tea? It looks like rice?
Nanami plays cello! Miki's sheet music is just nonstop rests filling the page. Nanami has protective thoughts about Miki... though, tbh, I feel like people (both in and out of show) tend to assume Miki is stupider than I've been thinking he is.
Touga is piling on the cruel comments now. And Nanami's minion too, whatever her name is.

Anthy casually holding a saw while saying she's not scary XD
Nanami is continuing to earn her 'relatable person' award by saying that Utena and Anthy's paired bed is weird.
GO NANAMI, ATTEMPTING A TRANSFER! Of course it's doomed, but it's a great try.
TOUGA NO!!!!! Idk exactly how far he got with Nanami, seeing as the car is sex coded, but the kiss is definitely bad enough.
This episode is very cutlery coded.... the apple studded with forks in the Kanae scene, the shadow play of bending spoons....
Nanami used to have two blades and now only has one.... I do remember one of them disappearing after the black rose duel, but I don't remember which one, and I'd assumed it was only temporary. (Went back. I was wrong, no sword dissolved on screen. However, it's weird. The long sword got knocked out of Tsuwabuki's hand and stabbed one of his little clay guys. He still had the short one. Duel ends, it's in his hand. He falls over.... on top of the long sword, which is magically here now, and the short one is magically gone. And then the long one teleports away. You can imagine that upon the end of the duel, the swords returned to Nanami, but they staggered here, and then in this current episode the short one is gone. What does it all mean....)
Most important question of the episode: HOW DID TOUGA TELEPORT FROM THE ARENA TO AKIO'S SEX BALCONY.
EPISODE 33
Wikipedia (I go there to remember the episode divisions) says this is "a bizarre radio show that frames a recap of the most recent duels". THEY'RE RIGHT. I didn't really need a recap but whatever.
For timeline purposes, it's currently autumn.
Is the second job Akio refers to 'manipulating kids'? And who's the work phone call he got? It doesn't seem to be Anthy, who calls later.
Ugh, the quickly dawning horror of realizing that of COURSE Utena is talking to Akio. Unsettlingly, she seems to be having some memory problems over minor things. Or maybe she's just nervous? The way the episode hides who she's talking to turns her speech into a monologue, making everything into an anxious attempt to talk about normal things. UGHHHH!!!
