tiny icon post

People with lots of icons (or any number, really): do you have any kind of philosophy on what icons to have in your collection, or which ones you like to use in what situations? I want to build up my collection but I'm getting choice paralysis :D

(I'm using my Tsuyu icon for this post, as my designated Thinking icon :D)

This question is prompted by me getting back into coloring manga panels for icons... it's really enjoyable! I'm catching up on the HxH manga (in some ways futilely, since it's looking like Togashi will never finish this arc, but it's still fun).

Here's a Kurapika from chapter 364. I find characters and creatures with big eyes and no mouths SO cute. I mean, look at him! As soon as I saw him I had to do something with this panel.

And here they are at icon size. I'm torn between my options! I guess it depends on the emotion I intend to convey with it. My range of emotions in my current icon set is kind of limited. Do I want innocent curiosity, or 'you've activated an interest of mine'?

Nobody look too closely at my shading. I don't know anything, I'm just here to have fun.

Ooooh, those are cute! ♥

... to be honest, I didn't MEAN to have this many icons, I just like having icons from my fandoms that I can use for fandom posts and also can't bear to get rid of any, so if ever I have made an icon and uploaded it and used it once, nevermore can I get rid of it. /o\ It's nice to have a variety of mood-appropriate ones plus ones for my faves or that I think are funny/clever! And some that were gift icons, like this one...

I don't have a lot of icons! *hides away*

I like text icons because they're an easy way to convey or strengthen an emotion. I love animal icons because they're cute. And fannish icons are also appropriate when talking about said fandom. Also, I can't resist the siren's call of a cool new icon :P

Thank you, I have no clue how to do icons, but I think this one came out okay :3

When I think about text icons I think about both icons that are only text or icons with added text. I find them quite expressive and, even more importantly, quite fun :D But yeah, animal icons all the way <3

I have a huge folder of icons saved on my PC so when I finally got a paid journal I just went through and uploaded a bunch of icons of my current favorite characters/ones I thought were really pretty/etc. And then when I find a new one I want to use, I skim through my currently uploaded icons and delete one that I find myself not using much. So I think it's totally normal to cycle through a bunch of stuff as your interests change or as you realize you're not really using certain icons at all. I tend to go with icons I find pretty or that convey more positive emotions since those are the ones I use most.

Oh yeah, I find way more icons I like than I can use at once so I just save them for future consideration whenever I need an icon for a new site or whatever. It does not help with the 'having too many choices' problem though lmao.
