"Rules": Your task for this one is to produce a one minute video edit (with an audio track of your own choosing) on your selected source using match-on-action and/or graphic matches as your primary editing logics. The motion of each shot should seem to continue into motion in the following shot and/or connect through images that are similar to the eye.

WHAT A STRUGGLE THIS WAS.

I think you can track my thought process through this:
  1. Graphic matching, got it. Match circles to circles, motions to motions---okay wow this is hard.
  2. New plan. Action! This song really isn't suited for action... but I'm not stopping now.
  3. Does it count as graphic matching if I just put a bunch of water shots in a row?
  4. I put myself in a dead end. More action!
  5. ...how am I supposed to end this thing?
Ultimately, not something I'm completely happy with, but that's mostly because I had to sacrifice any kind of story or focus in order to prioritize the transitions. On the bright side, it was a lot of fun to mix and match fights! That's my comfort zone far more than the artsy stuff :D Even though this song is very slow and calm, there's just enough going on with the instrumentation that I could still time action to it.

The reason I used this song, despite it really not matching anything I was going for, is because I have another project using this song that I'm kind of stuck on and I wanted to get more insight into it. I've determined my problem is that this song is very same-y in terms of its energy, so I think for my other project I'll try to keep it to 1-1.5 minutes long and not expect to transition between sections a lot.
