Jul. 31st, 2022 09:42 am"Rules": Produce a 1 minute video edit from your selected source, in which lyrical interpretation guides your shot choice. You could interpret the lyrics literally or metaphorically/suggestively. Once you have completed this video, choose selected lyrics to incorporate creatively as text within the video. Then make a version of this video with the text, but substituting the original audio with a different piece of music that has no lyrics.
I.... didn't actually reread the instructions when I started, so I just went straight into the text! I made a version with the text removed afterwards though.

- So, I obviously am a huge fan of the Threshold effect (the one that makes everything into primary colors). It wasn't in my original plan for this video, but it really helped with the text by providing a nice clean background (and by letting me put the text behind Obito, in some shots, without having to do TOO much masking). It's probably a little overdone... but it's just so fun that I can't regret it.
- I've been wanting to do this song for ages, but the full song does have an explicit romantic meaning, while I of course want to go for horror. I edited the song down and removed some lines in the chorus, but I was still worried that my meaning wouldn't come across clearly, which is why I chose this for the lyrics exercise; I thought picking out specific words would help my case. I was originally going to put an equals sign for 'like', as in "make me = you", to make this very clear. But... I didn't end up really needing that. Part of the reason is that I switched subjects from 'Madara manipulating Obito', which is very difficult to show visually, to Zetsu body horror, which is very easy! So now the text is just there to enhance.
- My style of editing is pretty fast and regimented, which doesn't really lend itself to putting a different song on top :( Especially when I masked the text word by word, it might have been better for the instrumental version to just show it all at once? I have so many little timing edits I want to make to that version, but I'm sticking to the rules and leaving it be.
- Songs are credited on Youtube but they're Make Me Like You by Gwen Stefani, and Cicatrices by Guilhem Desq.

Date: 2022-07-31 03:47 pm (UTC)I haven't watched any JJK, but since it's only one season, that seems doable to watch... I think I got it confused with Demon Slayer and thought there was more.
ETA: I realized my only exposure to JJK has been this, which... didn't clear up any questions for me: https://sonicthehonic.tumblr.com/post/679817967133982720

Date: 2022-08-01 12:05 am (UTC)I struggled with the timing of some of the text with the music change on mine as well. I honestly didn't notice it on yours (didn't see your note until after I'd watched)
